My Priorities as Your State Senator
Upon being chosen as your state senator in 2026, my priority will be to protect Kentucky values and put the interests of our district first.
Education
- Support local schools and accountability, keeping decision-making in the hands of parents, educators, and elected school boards – while strengthening oversight and transparency to the public and employees.
- Stand up for classified school staff — the bus drivers, cafeteria workers, instructional aides, custodians, and secretaries who keep our schools running every day – by advocating for fair pay, reliable benefits, and respect for their service through recognition programs and improved due process procedures.
- Support local educators and classified staff, recognizing that housing affordability and a livable wage directly impacts recruitment, retention, and student success – making it possible for people to live where they work and attend school.
- Address safety concerns of schools and school transportation, including increased penalties for school bus stop arm violations and an effective, accurate public awareness campaign to making Kentucky roadways safer for our students, public servants, and citizens.
Housing
- Support local solutions to homelessness that focus on dignity, stability, and basic human rights (clean air, water, food, shelter, community) – including transitional pathways, strengths education, and funding sustainable partnerships between businesses, organizations and communities.
- Address the housing shortage responsibly by ensuring housing solutions reduce strain on emergency services and infrastructure and protect quality of life for existing residents.
- Maintain rental housing affordability, stability and safety by recognizing renters’ rights to affordable safe housing, due process, and enforced maintenance codes that support, rather than conflict, with property owners’ interests and investments – thereby strengthening the contributions and success of the communities in which we live.
- Protect farmland and property rights, ensuring our agricultural heritage remains viable even as our district grows.
- Encourage solutions that reduce mortgage and insurance rates so those who dream of homeownership can achieve it and maintain it.
Employment
- Propose workforce solutions that promote worker stability that stimulate economic growth and business investments. Happy workers make productive companies!
Infrastructure
- Propose targeted solutions to expand internet and cellular service in underserved areas, in combination with the strategic efforts of Rural Development, FCC, and other regulatory stakeholders.
- Work with local planners and service providers to create a feasible strategic plan to upgrade aged infrastructure, such as water lines, electric, phone and internet lines and towers.
- Work with local planners and Kentucky Transportation Cabinet to create a feasible plan to reduce the rush-hour bottleneck between Berea and Richmond, Richmond and Irvine, and Richmond and Lexington.
Healthcare Access
- Join in the fight that is already underway…
- Help streamline veteran and families’ access to healthcare…
… all very big goals, and long overdue.
